2016: Fake antibacterial medicines in DR-Congo

The DIFAEM-EPN-Minilab-Network informed the health communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo about a fake nalidixic acid batch circulating in the market. Lab tests at the genuine manufacturer IDA confirmed that the tablets under investigation contained no nalidixic acid whatsoever. Fake antibacterial medicines with low or zero content of active pharmaceutical ingredient is not treating the infection as required resulting in prolonged suffering or even death.
