2015: Fake antimalarial medicines in Togo and the Ivory Coast
During a survey performed by the Office of the General Inspector of the Global Fund and Interpol, falsified antimalarial batches for artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) were found in street markets and shops in the capital cities of the Ivory Coast and Togo. Subsequent analysis confirmed that these products contained none of the correct active pharmaceutical ingredients. See more at the WHO Medical Product Alert 01/2015.
