2016: Fake fertility medicines in Cameroon

Reproductive health is detrimentally affected by fake and substandard quality medicines. Reports on counterfeit emergency contraceptive pills exists from Uganda and Peru. In contrast to birth control, there exists also the opposite pressure to give birth. One of the prevailing medicine for ovulation induction is clomifene. During a medicines quality survey performed by the DIFAEM-EPN-Minilab-Network in Cameroon, a batch of falsified Clomid tablets missing more than 90% of the active pharmaceutical ingredient has been detected.
